When to Add a Subpanel: Signs Your Florida Home Needs More Circuit Space

If your main panel is full but you need more circuits, a subpanel may be the answer. Here is what to know.

    What Is a Subpanel?

A subpanel is a secondary electrical panel fed by a single large breaker in your main panel. It provides additional circuit space for new loads.

    When You Need One

    • Your main panel has no available breaker slots
    • You are adding a garage, pool, or addition
    • You want to organize circuits by area
    • You need a panel closer to new loads to save wiring

    Subpanel vs Panel Upgrade

If your main panel is old or undersized, a full panel upgrade is better. If your panel is in good shape but just full, a subpanel is more cost-effective.

    Capacity Matters

Your main panel must have enough capacity to feed the subpanel. We perform a load calculation to ensure safety.
